How We Work
The Minnesota Lawyer Referral and Information Service (MNLRIS) is a non-profit program offering legal referrals across numerous areas of law in the Twin Cities metro area and statewide. Our service has been serving attorneys and the public since 1948.
Callers pay a $30 administrative fee for an appointment with a MNLRIS panel attorney (waived for injury cases). Attorneys then provide a 30-minute consultation at no extra charge. If the client decides to hire the attorney, all subsequent fees are negotiated directly between them.

Attorneys select specific legal areas for referrals, with over 100 practice areas and sub-panels available to target their preferred cases.
Our trained staff pre-screens clients who contact MNLRIS, eliminating irrelevant inquiries to your office. Clients are informed that our panel attorneys set their own rates for representation and legal services. Participating in MNLRIS assures the public of receiving referrals to capable, experienced attorneys.

Our staff screens clients to identify the legal assistance needed and can schedule appointments with MNLRIS panel attorneys or direct callers to community resources when that is more appropriate.
